BACKGROUND AND APPROACH

Blue Jay began its journey at the legendary Concord Youth Centre in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, where we partnered with local filmmakers to connect young people with exceptionally talented creatives, including Misba Uddin of Bebi Media https://www.instagram.com/bebi_media/. Through these collaborations, young people gained access to high-end equipment and told powerful, inspirational sports stories—supported by funding from the West Midlands Police Commission and the National Lottery.
These early projects helped young people build confidence, broaden their horizons, and develop leadership skills within their communities. As our work evolved, we launched intergenerational projects—funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund—that sparked meaningful conversations about sustainable living and the wisdom we can draw from previous generations.
Our journey has been shaped by the support of incredible partners such as Midlands Arts Centre, MECC Trust, Pannel Croft Retirement Village, and Newbiggin Trust.
At Blue Jay, we are deeply committed to a community-centered approach. We believe in the power of collaboration and aim to empower individuals to play an active role in shaping the world around them. Our ethos is rooted in inclusivity and creativity—we provide a platform where people from all walks of life can share their stories, ideas, and experiences.
We believe that every voice matters and every contribution counts. That's why we strive to create a welcoming, supportive space where everyone feels heard and celebrated.
At Blue Jay, we don’t just tell stories—we create them together. Whether you’re interested in wellbeing activities, podcasting, filmmaking, or simply want to share your perspective, we invite you to join us. Together, we can make a lasting impact and inspire others to be part of something meaningful.
