
Empowering Young People with Energy Advice Skills
Blue Jay has been training young people to deliver energy advice across Birmingham, in partnership with MECC Trust, Khidmat Centre, Hutton Hall, Unity Hubb, and The Hub Hazelwell. Participants have had the opportunity to shadow professional Energy Advisors during one-to-one advice sessions, helping local residents with energy bills, conducting home visits, and recommending energy-saving measures and retrofits. This hands-on experience has been invaluable, allowing participants to develop a wide range of skills, including: Designing and creating educational resources Producing engaging social media content and reels Distributing warm packs to the community Understanding and responding to the diverse needs of Birmingham residents Through this programme, young people gain practical knowledge, confidence, and the tools to make a real difference in their community.
